Summer Bubbles

A Long Weekend

This weekend was full of family time. We ate lots of s’mores, and Daniel built me some new lighting for pictures. Unfortunately, we could not spend our Memorial Day at the beach like we had planned, thanks to Tropical Storm Beryl. We did however have an impromptu hang out/cook out with our friends later that evening. It was a nice time enjoying burgers, banana pudding and watching all the kids play. All of the rain really helped my sunflower sprouts to shoot up, and this morning I found that my pepper plants are finally sprouting. Overall, the weekend was a success. Now it’s time to enjoy each night at home with no plans or places to go. No Commitments Stay-cation day 2!

Basil in a claw foot bathtub

Kim and Roger’s Back Yard

Last Saturday Daniel and I drove over to his parents house to get some pots and soil, which is only about 3 minutes down the road from us. We had to go to the back of the yard where the shed was to get the pots, and I was quickly reminded of how much I love their back yard. It is quite spacious, and has such a warm personality. It’s so silly how we forget about the simplest and sweetest of pleasures. I am looking forward to spending lots of summer days and evenings in their back yard, playing with Abram and enjoying my family.

This is my favorite accessory of their back yard. Kim had an old claw foot bathtub going to waste in her shed, so a few years ago she took it out and started planting basil in it. Now each year around this time, it is FULL of basil leaves. It’s so pretty.

This is also a favorite of mine. This tiny red car belongs to Daniel’s Uncle Jerry. He drives from Fort White to the house to get his lawn equipment, and parks this car here during the day. Then when he’s done, he leaves his truck and lawn equipment here and takes the more fuel efficient red car home.

This huge deck provides many hours of play time for Abram, and it’s also where we had our wedding reception. A beautiful venue, whether used for play or party.

So what about you? What places, sometimes forgotten, do you enjoy most?

No Commitments Stay-cation

No Commitments Stay-cation!

Starting on Monday, Daniel, Abram and I will be commencing our No Commitments Stay-cation week. It couldn’t come any sooner! Monday also happens to be Memorial Day, which means we can go to the beach and Daniel still gets paid! Hallelujah. We both still have to work next week, because we cannot afford take off. But outside of job requirements, we are free for 7 days!

No Commitments Stay-cation has rules:

1. We are not allowed to make any kind of commitments or plans, no matter how small during those 7 days (even if it is for the future)

2. Every single night will be family night (accept for a night set aside for some kind of date)

3. Relaxing is required

We don’t have money to take an out of town vacation, so we decided that if we had to take one at home, we would treat it as if we were going out of town. Our lives are often so busy, that family time doesn’t always get to happen. Before the crazy summer starts with youth camp, a trip to Miami, weddings, a new etsy collection, Guatemala fundraising and more responsibility at work, we wanted to have one solid week for just us three. It’s so important.

So with that being said, I will still be posting every day. I’ve been working extra hard this week to get blog posts done in advance. If you need to reach me just to talk and catch up, then don’t hesitate.

HOWEVER, if you need to ask me something that requires me making any kind of commitment or plan for the weeks following, sorry. You’ll have to wait until the 4th of June. I love you guys, but I need some fam time!
